Care and Maintenance Tips for Galvanized Trailers
22nd June 2004
Always wash down your boat trailer and store in a dry condition after use in salt water. Allowing salt water to remain on your trailer will affect the hot dip galvanized coating which can generally have a life expectancy of over 25 years. The salt crystals remaining on the surface will turn into salt water every time the temperature of the steel drops below the dew point, which is almost every morning in the cooler months. Rinsing and flushing with fresh water inside hollow sections will ensure that salt does not accumulate in these areas.
